Add the ability to place blocks, not just mine them. A menu could pop up when you click a certain button (maybe interact with the DCU somehow? not really sure), allowing you to select one or multiple types of blocks to place down. Placing blocks down would work just as the mining would, and would place the blocks randomly (if multiple are selected). The blocks would also come out of your inventory, or one of the extra storage items (piggy bank, void vault, etc).
^ Add this functionality to walls? Though walls are less of a hassle to mass-place than blocks, I think it'd still be helpful.

If this isn't possible to simply add to the DCU, I think making it a new item (that is difficult to get) or even a material that could be crafted with the DCU to make an enhanced version of it would be nice.

This sounds very very unnecessary. Unless you're filling in an enormous area, you don't need to place that many blocks that fast, and besides, you can just use dirt bombs for that.

With that logic, the DCU itself is unnecessary unless you're mining out an enormous area. Dynamite as well as normal bombs (and sticky ones) can be used.

I don't think so. Breaking things is much better done quickly, whereas building is generally best done slowly. The use cases for the DCU, while admittedly not many, are still greater than for a building function on the DCU.

They're greater, but there's an absurd amount of things for mass destruction and none (to my knowledge) for mass construction. This'd be a nice change imo

Thats completely forgetting literally every kind of natural block that is used.

If you need to build up a huge area with blocks (which is actually quite rare in general), you usually don't care so much about which specific block it is.

I frequently need to fill up a area with either mud or stone (I build a lot. This is not applicable to normal playthroughs.)

Why exactly with dirt or stone? And backfill on such a large scale?
At the very least you can use TEdit, though I realize it's nice to be able to build without third party software.

Terraforming.

Quite a few players aren't on pc, so they can't use it.
